Interesting and funny clip!

This Staff man is really a tough guy :D

Hats off for standing effects around 7G
is no cakewalk! Especially if you're no
experienced pilot or navigation officer
in such a fighterplane.

A few years ago I did kind of such a test
in an open biplane twoseater (Stampe, built 1949,
with a Tiger Moth engine built 1939), we did
barrel rolls, loops, sharp turns, and as the cream
on top one "Immelmann".

We reached 4,5G and I can tell you: unbelievable!
Coming down from a loop is like to have a ton of bricks
on your shoulders, and the downturn out of an Immelmann
ist really stomach-shaking

The difficulty is, to know about the flight attitude all the time,
"blue is above" just helps little when a skilled pilot throws
you through several flight figure combinations

I never was unconcious during that flight, but after 30some minutes
I was done and exhausted. My pilot told me, that unexperienced people
loose conciousness around 7-8G, more than that can be fatal.

In his acrobatic flight show he has to stand a maximum of 12G...

Anyway - it's an "everybode should try this" -thing!

Glück auf!

@pofpof- I'm aware of how tuff & hard it is to be a Fighter Pilot,
my dad is a retired Air Force pilot. He flew the (F-111)
old school fighter/bomber in the late 70's -'80s.
His favorite story was his flight training in the
T-38 pulling 9-10 G's and almost passing
out the first time!

My plan was to go to flight school, but with my poor vision not being
20/20. I couldnt pass the Phase #1 physical in ROTC!

Flying is still the next best thing to Racing for me!

Thanks for your positive repsonse.... 8)

Aaron

"you did a little bit of a nap there, thats all right, that happens on the immelmann quite frequently"

i find that guy quite tough though, compared to many of us who would probably just puke their guts out :D

At least he looks quite cool (when he´s just conscious) while chewing his chewing gum so resolutely :)

But I also think he could have done much worse, lots of people would have had to use the barf bag after only a very, very short time.

Last Friday there was a silly show on German tv, testing if the so-called "tough guys" really are that tough. They sat 3 of them in a plane (not a fighter, but one used for airshows), and they only kept up for 2 to 3 minutes... with by far not as much as 7 G!

That would be a test for me to try out how far I can go!

I agree. And I must say that I felt more save in that
old Stampe biplane doing barrel rolls and stuff than
going fast on a motorcycle on the legendary "Nordschleife".

[went for my last ride in there 1998 and will ride there never again]

My dream job was to be a helicopter pilot. Or taking some yoghurt
to Bora Bora with an old DC3 tugboat :D

Something romantic, flavored with a little bit of adventure. Kind of silly
that. But my vision isn't that good as well. Flight school in Germany is
expensive anyway. One chance that I could have taken was to put myself
in the Army, Navy or Air Force to learn how to fly. But my poor vision
denied these plans from their very beginning.

So I put my butt in planes from time to time. And more often I put
it on my 748 Ducati :D

Glück auf!
